Education is something that make us critical thinkers and let us make informed decisions in our lives. Education is not only beneficial to ourselves but also to the community we live in. Without education, we might never realize our potential.

I am lucky to have recieved quality education but a shocking number of people have no access to it. It is very important that we realize the urgency associated with this issue and do a favour to ourselves by taking

Maheen Sohail is a 2nd Year student in the field of Interactive Arts & Technology at Simon Fraser University. Her passion lies within various fields of media arts, such as documentary making, animation, VFX, graphic design, and public speaking. Over the past few years she has accumulated over 6,500 volunteer hours, because she enjoys using her passion to help create a positive impact in the community. She hopes to continue making the same impact through LET’S.

Nidhi is a 4th Year UBC student studying Biopsychology and Visual Arts. Through UBC's International Service Learning Program, she has been collaborating with a school for the Deaf in Uganda. This experience has not only taught her how difficult and important it is to break down the barriers that marganilized populations face, but has also helped her crystallize her career goals and shown her how she wants to continue to confront these barriers. Working with LET'S she hopes to continue to face issues of International Development and educational access, and gain experience shaping relevant, effective projects and curricula.

LET'S is an opportunity for everyone to truly understand the philosophy behind education and its vitality in our modern society. While it may sometimes be in forms we are not accustomed to, but the general concept behind educating our peers, whether it is through the current secondary education system or something simpler, is truly humbling. For me, LET'S will create a ripple effect, not only around campus but also in much needed places around a world, on how education should be perceived and how fundamental it is for us to be globally conscious citizens. This charity provides me with a lot of hope for what humanity can do to ensure that our current world and future worlds can thrive through teaching, learning, and understanding.

LET'S to me is a medium. A medium used to transfer awareness of the current appalling state of education to the developing world along with transferring permanent aid to the developing countries in need. Education might be subjective in definition but regardless of how it is defined it is still a crucial part of life whether it is "classical" wester education, health education or agricultural education without it humanity will not move forward LET'S is a movement aiming to remove that anchor so humanity can develop at full speed.

It was not until recently that I realized what education truly is and what it can do to people. I spent sleepless nights while I was studying at UBC, reading piles of books and powering through exams just to get high numbers on my transcript. I studied mindlessly with a sense of obligation to be a good daughter to my parents and seen as a responsible student other people.

Since I realized that I had no heart in my learning while I was at UBC,  I started seeking my real dream and passion. As a result, I finally found my true passion for providing education opportunities for people, specifically most often for children because they have the most plastic mind set of learning. My learning is now led by self-exploration and motivation. I absolutely love what I am learning everyday!
